Stellar Video Music Link

Stellar link to a night I cannot forget.
As I searched for Levon Helm & Sean Costello,
this came up as my favorite version...
on this cold vermont day, thinking of all my friends in heaven,
I wanted Lisa to find Sean and Levon, because I know she can trust them...
We were in Levon's Living Room,
This video from The Living Room in NYC...

I was never there,
but Anthony was.

Thank him.

movie: Ain't in it for My Health

Ain't in it for my Health

My second time watching, Fred's first time.
It was even more powerful the second time.
No question, Levon Helm had successes,
he went through hard times
And happy times,
Both with painful streaks running through.

Ain't In It For My Health....available for purchase

Ain’t In It For My Health

A movie about Levon Helm,

And family, friends, music,

Cancer and lung disease,

Living and dying,

Loving and those things we cannot change.

Fred bought Levon’s movie on Amazon.

It was easy. You could even find it by going to
Levonhelm.com

We went to Levon’s house a few times for The Midnight Rambles.

They were, sequentially, the best experiences we have ever had.

So seeing the movie lent more of a wholeness to the memories.

We knew he was a genius, a musical wizard,

a dedicated drummer, singer, mandolin player, guitar player, composer,

director, actor, father, husband.

In this movie we saw his vulnerable side, his miraculous survival,

His illness, his demons, his dragons.

We saw his angels, his guardians.

We saw the people who helped him through the dark days,

The people who have kept his dream going.

This is a 5 out of 5 star movie.

I wanted to meet Mrs. Danko. She passed away last month, and her defeat recorded for me to see.

I want a sequel and interview with the people who sat so quietly letting Levon speak.

Like my Mom, who died last year too, people would sit and wait for what came out of his mouth.

They were waiting for the proclamation of revenge, or hate, or explanation.

Nothing.

Internalized, the bad things Levon, and my Mom had to suffer, will be the karmic nightmare of those who trespassed on them.

In the movie I saw the reflection of his sadness at losing 2 of his best friends,
Richard Manual and Rick Danko. The money they lost was a source of that pain but it was more than that. They had their faces stolen. It was painful to hear how Levon felt at times. It was very real and makes me respect him even more.
You must buy this movie and share a biographical sketch of a man who drummed his way into our hearts and we hear his beat every day...

Friday Night

Friday Night was so special last night in Woodstock, N.Y.
Amy Helm and her Musical Entourage was a completely
perfect ending to our trip to Virginia.
The Barn was packed and the wood resonated with people & Music.
The floor and walls walls and people like another instrument...
no one could stay still, Fun, surprise guests, impromptu mastery,
Stellar music.
Wonderful caring staff, nice food fresh and tasty.
Fred and I went to Levon's pond and toasted him.
We watched fish jump out of the water and knew this was a place Levon could meditate.
The Catskills have a special feeling. The stone, hard, heavy and dense.
The streams cool and fresh.
The artists sang the full gamut of emotions,
Love, Loss, Labor.
Pain, Elation, Grief.
Someone else will write about this concert, I bet.
It was a night we will not forget
& are grateful for the tickets, being able to get there.
Look for more @ Amyhelm.com

Found this YT link by his best friend, Rick...

and i thought about my grandmother fanny and how that song has some themes in my life, and that everyone could relate to the story of having a heavy load, the devil, temptation, the weight of it all.
also thoughts of why i like to hear bass players-glenn and rick both major bass players with unique, expansive styles. so friday night is all about music.
this particular friday night is dedicated to levon helm.

Levon Helm Tribute

A cleansing breath sorely needed.
Stirring up past losses, failed conquests, well, it just demands
a turning to the real life things that matter, like a
link to a Tribute to Levon lovingly done by Warren Haines & Band.
It was weird that the last letter I posted #5 occurred at about the same time November 2009 as we got invited to a once in a lifetime Special Midnight Ramble. That was when we saw Kris Kristofferson et many more... at Levon's barn. No more than 200 people hearing and experiencing such a rare concert.
I really took it as a sign at the time of better days. It was like Levon had his Rambles and we went for what I called a "healing". The barn has an intimate quality like no other. At the same time we both read This Wheel's on Fire by Levon Helm, the honest and fascinating story of that man whose eyes sparkle and shine. Levon talked about his childhood's family trouble when the bank "papered them" and what did that mean? They must have called in the loan? And I realized no matter how smart or powerful you think you are, we are all vulnerable to a certain element of greed.
I hope you would consider helping Levon's family and friends save his barn.
Or perhaps you are near Woodstock, NY and want to experience an intense musical venue you will never forget.
Or you want to order the new release Love for Levon...incredible multiple cd/dvd pkg...

Wow Warren Haynes and band link on yt...

Review | Photos | Love for Levon | New Jersey on JamBase

Love for Levon

Virgil Caine,
Golden Eagle
Several years ago, We were gifted the co-adoption of Virgil Caine,
Golden Eagle who flies up and down the Eastern states.
She is a symbol of rugged power, like Levon Helm.
So right off, if you read no further, go to his website and buy
music, shirts, anything to help save his barn venue as he wished.
Just out:
The Love for Levon concert at Izod center.
2 cd's, 2 dvd's, many photos, interviews.
I saw the UPS tracks in the driveway, my birthday gift early.
Wanted to wait and held out for about 10 minutes
Then Fred opened the package and we started watching
this amazing concert..then I remember live tweeting during the concert
or was I mostly re-tweeting? Will have to look to find them.
Go on, buy the love for levon set through their website:

And found this link below to a great review article...

Review | Photos | Love for Levon | New Jersey on JamBase

If you are still with me,
my review?

Each musician a star
a shining bright star of energy,
together a constellation,
feeling a loss
so complete,
losing a mentor shaman
all around hardworking
good guy,
he left this world a better place,
the music, in this video, from the beginning,
tight, together, crisp, clear, heartfelt, matching songs to the people
who came to sing their tribute
one by one stepping up to the microphone,
biting their inner lip to keep from crying when they get to that part.
you know especially musicians have feelings,
it is a small price to pay for this amazingly performances, recorded, mixed,
produced, polished and most of all,
a directive from Levon: Keep it Goin'
Keep the Midnight Rambles in his barn going.
The most amazing concerts I have been to,
We now can experience the great photography, videography, musical talents
all in a tribute to a man who was clearly in the vicinity, and in the hearts of each of these
musicians and fans who adore that powerful force,
We have had all expectations exceeded by a country mile...
buy this music...#2  on amazon..make it #1...
