A Texas-based lollipop company has recently introduced its breast milk flavored lollipops as the newest addition to the company’s list of quirky lollipop flavors. Lollyphile [LOL-ee-fahyl] is a candy company that sells bizarre flavored candies, such as maple bacon, sriracha [SEE-rah-chah] and some alcohol flavored lollipops. The company’s goal is to make the most interesting candy in the world. The breast milk lollipop is the result of the curiosity [kyoo r-ee-OS-i-tee] of the Lollyphile founder Jason Darling. He noticed that breast milk seems to pacify screaming babies. Darling wanted to know what flavor the breast milk has that it can quiet down babies. So, he decided to taste it for himself with the milk from his breastfeeding friends. The lollipops, however, do not contain real breast milk since the milk could not hold up to the candy-making process. Also, the process would require too much breast milk for the lollipop’s creation. Instead, the lollipops contain artificial and natural ingredients with flavors based on real breast milk from volunteer mothers. Flavor scientists are the ones who ensure that the lollipops taste exactly like breast milk. The breast milk-flavored lollipops are now selling like hotcakes after being launched in June. Many people like the product, but some think it is awful and not appetizing. Nonetheless, the lollipop has become a huge hit in the U.S. Though lollipops are generally for kids, the lollipops of Lollyphile are also for adults. Customers can purchase four Breast Milk Lollipops for $10 on Lollyphile’s website. |
